Obverse description Central device featuring a snow lion in left profile, with a stylized sun motif above its back. The lion is framed by scrolling foliate ornaments and four repeated Buddhist auspicious symbols — specifically the endless knot (shrivatsa) — positioned in the cardinal quadrants. A surrounding border carries a Tibetan inscription legend. The overall composition reflects the distinctive Tibetan artistic tradition applied to coinage of the Ganden Phodrang government.
