Obverse description Central field displays the arms of Worcester City — a shield depicting a castle with battlemented tower — encircled by an ornamental wreath of laurel or oak branches. The circumferential legend reads WORCESTER COUNTY & CITY TOKEN, arranged around the full periphery of the coin in raised Latin lettering. The heraldic shield is rendered in fine detail consistent with the engraving standards of early nineteenth-century English silver token coinage. The design is contained within a milled border.
