Obverse description First laureate and draped bust of King William III facing right, with the mintmark 'E' for Exeter placed below the bust truncation. The effigy, engraved in the classical manner of the Roettier workshop, portrays the king with aquiline features, a flowing laurel wreath, and draped shoulders. The encircling Latin legend reads GVLIELMVS · III · DEI · GRA, running from the lower left of the field around the portrait.
