| Beschrijving voorzijde | Full colour pad-printed design depicting the Coat of Arms of Somaliland centred in the field against a vivid green background. The quartered shield displays crossed spears and a roundel in the upper half, with a mosque tower and an anchor flanking a sailing vessel over waves in the lower quarters. A crowned kudu head serves as the crest above the shield. The curved legend reads 'SOMALILAND' to the left and '1 SHILLING 2020' to the right, following the rim. |

Somaliland has issued its own coinage since 1994, operating as a self-declared republic unrecognized by any UN member state. That political limbo makes its coins technically non-circulating curiosities rather than internationally accepted currency, though they do see domestic use. The pad-printing process used here — essentially ink applied directly to the steel blank — is one of the cheaper modern techniques for adding color or detail without reeding, and it's prone to chipping with handling.
The Boab Prison Tree is a real landmark near Derby, Western Australia: a large hollow boab reportedly used in the late 19th century to temporarily hold Aboriginal prisoners during overland transfers to coastal gaols.
