Obverse description The colourised coat of arms of Zimbabwe occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield supported by two kudus, with a Zimbabwe Bird atop the crest and a red star above wavy blue and white lines representing water. The denomination numeral '1' appears in the upper field beneath the legend 'SHILLING', while the motto ribbon at the base of the arms bears the inscription 'UNITY . FREEDOM . WORK'. The encircling legend 'REPUBLIC OF ZIMBABWE' runs along the lower periphery, with the date '2017' positioned above it. The entire design is rendered with full colour printing against a light blue milled field.
