| Reverse description | Central field displays the Irish harp surmounted by an imperial crown, flanked on either side by the crowned royal cypher 'M R' (Maria Regina), all within a beaded inner circle. The harp is rendered in the characteristic Tudor style with diagonal strings and a decorative forepillar. The crowned initials M and R appear to the left and right of the harp respectively, each beneath a small crown. The surrounding legend reads VERITAS TEMPORIS FILIA M D LIII, the famous motto meaning 'Truth is the daughter of time,' followed by the Roman numeral date 1553. Ornamental stops separate the legend elements within a beaded outer border. |
