附加信息	Cyprus remained under British administration after World War II while independence negotiations dragged on through the late 1940s and into the 1950s, with EOKA's armed campaign still a few years off. This 1949 issue was struck in London during a transitional moment — the copper-nickel composition had replaced the earlier silver alloy as postwar silver shortages forced colonial mints to reformulate coinage across the empire. George VI had been formally titled King of Cyprus as part of his colonial styles, a designation that would survive only until Cypriot independence in 1960.
