| Opis rewersu | Central device features a tall, naturalistically rendered oil palm tree rising from a ground of tropical vegetation, flanked on either side by ornamental scroll-work forming a cartouche framing the date 1920, with the numerals split on either side of the trunk. The peripheral legend BRITISH WEST AFRICA arcs across the upper field, while ONE SHILLING is inscribed along the lower arc, all within a toothed or beaded border. The mint mark KN, denoting the Kings Norton Metal Company, appears in the reverse lettering. The design is boldly struck with well-defined relief, displaying rich golden and iridescent toning characteristic of tin-brass trial strikings. |
