The West African Currency Board, established in 1912 to manage coinage across British West Africa, commissioned trial pieces periodically to evaluate new compositions before committing to full production runs. This 1936 tin brass trial for the shilling came at the end of George V's reign — he died in January of that year — meaning production coinage under his effigy was already winding down regardless of the outcome of any compositional testing.
KM# P10 exists in very small numbers, struck for approval purposes rather than circulation.
