| Reverse description | The four-quartered British-Hanoverian royal coat of arms, displayed without the Hanoverian inescutcheon, surmounted by a large arched crown, and set within an ornate baroque cartouche with foliate flourishes. The first and fourth quarters bear the three passant guardant lions of England, the second quarter the lion rampant of Scotland, the third quarter the fleur-de-lis of France, and the lower-left quarter the Irish harp. The date 1774 appears above the crown, and the legend VIRGINIA. 1774 is distributed to either side of the shield. |
