Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed older effigy of King George III facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed drapery at the shoulder. The truncation is sharply defined, and the portrait reflects the mature style associated with engraver Lewis Pingo. The royal legend is disposed around the periphery in Latin characters, separated by raised pellet stops. Several portrait varieties are known across the series.
