Obverse description Uncrowned right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Mary Gillick, wearing a laurel wreath and with hair swept up and pinned at the back of the head. The portrait is rendered in fine low relief with delicate detail in the hair and drapery at the truncation. The circular legend reads + ELIZABETH·II·DEI·GRATIA·REGINA, notably omitting the customary F:D: (Fidei Defensor) titles. The field is plain and the design is framed by a continuous beaded border.
