Beschrijving voorzijde Crowned bust of King Edward VI facing right, rendered in the broad style characteristic of the first issue of the second coinage period, with a large, elaborate crown surmounting the royal effigy. The portrait is boldly struck in the hammered tradition, displaying the young king's features in profile within a beaded inner circle. The legend is inscribed in Latin within the outer field, reading TIMOR DOMINI FONS VITAE MD XLIX, translating as 'The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, 1549.' The inscription is rendered in Gothic lettering interspersed with decorative stops, a hallmark of Tudor mint practice.

Beschrijving keerzijde A small oval shield of arms, garnished with elaborate scrollwork and foliate ornaments, is centrally positioned and divides the royal monogram 'E R' (Edwardus Rex) to left and right. The quartered shield displays the arms of England and France in the Tudor heraldic arrangement. The surrounding Latin legend, inscribed within a beaded circle and reading from the outer margin, identifies the king as Edward VI by the Grace of God King of England, France, and Ireland. The overall composition is typical of the first issue of the second coinage period, with the garnished oval shield being a distinctive design element introduced at this time.
