| Obverse description | Second draped bust of Queen Anne facing left, her hair elaborately dressed with a small coronet atop and tied with a ribbon at the back, the truncation adorned with a brooch. The effigy, engraved by John Croker, is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the drapery at the shoulder. The circular Latin legend ANNA • DEI • GRATIA • runs along the periphery, interrupted by the bust. The Edinburgh mint mark 'E' appears below the bust truncation, identifying the striking facility. A fine toothed or reeded border frames the entire design. |
