| Beschrijving voorzijde | Left-facing draped bust of Queen Anne, her hair loosely dressed and tied with a ribbon at the nape, engraved in the first portrait style attributed to John Croker. The effigy is rendered with fine baroque detail, the queen's décolletage partially covered by a draped mantle. The legend ANNA·DEI·GRATIA· runs around the upper periphery, while the word VIGO appears prominently below the bust, commemorating the capture of silver from the Spanish fleet at the Battle of Vigo Bay in 1702. The coin's milled border frames the design within a toothed inner rim. |
