| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse presents the host coin's design — a Spanish colonial 2 Reales struck at the Mexico City Mint — showing a heavily worn crowned royal arms of Spain in the central field, flanked by the pillars of Hercules with scrolling banners. The circumferential legend reads FRD VI D G HISP ET IND R, identifying Ferdinand VI as King of Spain and the Indies. The assayer initial GR appears in the field, and the overall fabric is characteristic of mid-18th-century milled coinage produced under the 'milled' or macuquina-successor coinage of New Spain. |

The underlying host coin reverse — showing the crowned hemispheres design with the legend VTRA QUE VNUM, the Mexico City mint mark (Mo), date 1747, and assayer initial GR — is partially visible but largely obscured by heavy wear and the applied countermark. The countermark officially authenticated the coin for circulation in Jamaica at a legal-tender value of 1 Shilling 8 Pence. |
