备注

Officers' mess chits issued during the Second World War occupy a curious corner of military ephemera — technically scrip rather than legal tender, they functioned as internal currency within the mess to settle bar and dining accounts, reducing the need to handle cash in garrison or field conditions. The 8/7 Infantry Battalion was an Australian unit, the amalgamated descendant of the 8th and 7th Battalions — both with Gallipoli and Western Front histories — merged during interwar restructuring.

Red paper distinguished denomination within the mess scrip series, a simple visual sorting system. Few survive; they were discarded once accounts were squared.
