Obverse description The obverse is printed in a single colour and carries a central vignette of a worker operating a walking tractor (power tiller) in an agricultural field, rendered in the Socialist-realist illustrative style characteristic of early 1970s Chinese local ration certificates. The denomination numeral '1' appears at both left and right, flanking the central design, with the county name and certificate title inscribed above and the weight value in Chinese characters below. The issue year is printed at the foot of the note.

A circular official red control stamp, bearing a five-pointed star, has been applied over the text.

Grain turnover certificates of this type were administrative instruments tied to China's mandatory grain procurement system — the state quota obligations imposed on rural communes under the socialist planning apparatus. Counties issued these locally to record the transfer of grain from production units to state granaries, functioning as receipts within a closed accounting loop rather than as negotiable instruments in any conventional sense. Ebian, a mountainous county in the Leshan region of Sichuan, operated under the same national framework but managed its own series independently.

The "shi jin" denomination reflects the traditional Chinese unit of 500 grams, retained in commodity certificates long after metrication became official policy elsewhere. The official red stamp is the sole authentication device — forgery risk was considered low given the purely internal administrative function of these documents.
