| Popis líce | Central field occupied by a densely interlaced nastaliq legend giving the Shi'a kalima and the names of the Twelve Imams, executed in bold relief with characteristically flowing calligraphic strokes. The inscription fills the entire field in a radiating, overlapping composition typical of Safavid hammered coinage. A marginal legend in smaller nastaliq script encircles the central text, separated by a plain inner border. The flan is irregular in outline, as is standard for hand-struck Safavid silver of this period. The overall style reflects the refined calligraphic artistry promoted under Shah Tahmasp I. |
