Moḥammad Alī Shah's reign coincided with the Constitutional Revolution, and his relationship with the parliament he inherited was openly hostile — culminating in his ordering the Cossack Brigade to shell the Majles building in June 1908. Coins struck under his authority circulated during one of the most violent internal crises in Qajar history. He was deposed in July 1909 and forced into exile in Russia, making the effective window for this type exceptionally narrow.
