| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a bold Nasta'liq inscription arranged in two horizontal registers separated by a ruled line, bearing the Shi'a profession of faith and the royal name. The legend is rendered in flowing, deeply struck calligraphy characteristic of late Safavid hammered coinage. Floral and foliate ornaments fill the margins surrounding the central text. The flan is slightly irregular, as typical of hand-struck issues of this period. |
