| Opis awersu | Central field bears the Shi'a profession of faith in angular, square Kufic script arranged in a bold geometric grid pattern: 'There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God, Ali is the Friend of God.' The inscription is organized in a rectilinear interlocking composition characteristic of early Safavid hammered coinage. A marginal legend encircling the central square panel contains the names of the Twelve Imams in cursive Arabic script. The flan is irregular and shows typical die-struck relief of the period. |

| Opis rewersu | Central field features a lobed or pointed cartouche containing the royal titulature of Shah Isma'il I in flowing cursive Arabic script, reading 'The just, perfect, guiding, governing Sultan, Abu al-Muzaffar Bahadur Khan, may God perpetuate his reign.' Below the central cartouche, the mint name 'Sawah' (ساوه) appears in the lower field. A surrounding marginal legend continues the royal titles. The overall layout is characteristic of the first standard type of Safavid silver coinage, with bold, deeply struck lettering on a slightly irregular hammered flan. |
