Reverse description Central field features a lobed or pointed cartouche containing the royal titulature of Shah Isma'il I in flowing cursive Arabic script, reading 'The just, perfect, guiding, governing Sultan, Abu al-Muzaffar Bahadur Khan, may God perpetuate his reign.' Below the central cartouche, the mint name 'Sawah' (ساوه) appears in the lower field. A surrounding marginal legend continues the royal titles. The overall layout is characteristic of the first standard type of Safavid silver coinage, with bold, deeply struck lettering on a slightly irregular hammered flan.
