Obverse description Central field occupied by a dense, multi-line Arabic legend in bold naskh/thuluth script, comprising the full royal titulature of Shah Isma'il I including his epithets and name, arranged within an irregular polygonal cartouche. The date 923 AH appears in the lower portion of the inscription. The surrounding field carries a circular marginal legend continuing the royal titles, all rendered in the characteristic dense calligraphic style of early Safavid coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-hammered production of the period.
