| Reverse description | Two pellets serving as the value mark for the sextans (⅙ as) positioned centrally within the field, surrounded by a retrograde or partially legible Etruscan legend reading VELA-ΘRI, interpreted as the ethnic of Volaterrae. The inscription is arranged around the central value marks in a circular fashion. The lettering is rendered in a combination of Etruscan and Greek-influenced characters, reflecting the bilingual epigraphic tradition of northern Etruscan minting centers. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show typical casting roughness consistent with early Etruscan bronze production. |
