Reverse description A vertically oriented club (the symbol of the series) occupies the central field, flanked by a single pellet to the left and a single pellet to the right, the two pellets serving as the value mark for the sextans denomination. The club is surrounded by a bilingual legend in Etruscan and Greek characters, reading VELA on one side and ΘRI on the other, together constituting the toponym for Volaterrae. The design is bold and schematic, consistent with the archaic Etruscan bronze coinage tradition of the late 3rd century BC.
Reverse script Greek/Etruscan
Reverse lettering VELA - ΘRI
