Reverse description Central field features a ho-ō (Japanese phoenix) displayed in profile with wings spread, enclosed within a raised inner circle surrounded by radiating sun rays, evoking imperial symbolism. The legend 大日本 (Great Japan) arcs across the upper field, flanked by raised dot stops on either side at mid-field. The reign era inscription 昭和十三年 (Shōwa Year 13) arcs along the lower field. The design is contained within a raised beaded border consistent with the obverse.
