Obverse description Central field displays the denomination in Chinese characters 一錢 (1 Sen) arranged vertically within an open wreath composed of rice stalks, their heads heavy with grain, curving symmetrically from a tied ribbon bow at the base. The wreath is bound at the foot with a decorative ribbon. The entire design is enclosed within a rope-style border at the rim, giving the composition a refined, formal character consistent with Meiji-era engraving standards.
