Beschrijving voorzijde Left-facing bust of President Sukarno occupying the central field, depicted wearing a traditional Indonesian peci (black velvet cap), rendered in low relief with fine linear detailing. The circumferential legend reads PRESIDEN REPUBLIK INDONESIA arching around the upper portion of the coin, with the name SUKARNO appearing at the base, flanked by small decorative rosette stops. The portrait is bold and stylised, characteristic of the Indonesian coinage series of the early 1960s.

Aanvullende informatie

Indonesia's 1 sen denomination was effectively obsolete before this coin was struck. Inflation had so thoroughly eroded the rupiah's purchasing power during the Sukarno years that fractions of a rupiah held no meaningful transactional value. These pieces entered circulation as a formality, part of a decimal coinage system the economy had already outpaced. Most sat unused, which explains why uncirculated survivors are far more common than worn examples.
