正面描述 Ethnic inscription in the field, rendered in archaic Latin characters. The abbreviation VES, standing for Vestini, is boldly incuse across the flat flan in a primitive, unrefined style characteristic of pre-Roman Italic cast bronze coinage. The letters occupy the majority of the coin's surface, with no surrounding border or decorative elements. The casting texture is coarse and irregular, consistent with the manufacturing standards of central Italic tribes during the late 4th to early 3rd century BC.

附加信息

The Vestini were an Oscan-speaking Italic people of the central Apennines whose coinage output was sparse and chronologically compressed. This semuncia falls within the period bracketed by Rome's final consolidation of Samnite territory and the conclusion of the Pyrrhic War — a stretch during which allied and semi-independent Italian communities briefly maintained their own bronze issues before Roman monetary integration effectively ended local minting. The Vestini sided with Rome against Pyrrhus, which may have afforded them temporary minting latitude, though their series remained small.
