| Reverse description | Convex field bearing a large incuse caduceus depicted in relief, its characteristic winged staff and intertwined serpents rendered in a bold, schematic Etruscan style. The device is centrally placed on the irregular cast flan and serves as the principal type identifying the denomination and issuing authority of Tarquinii. The surface is covered with a rich brown patina interspersed with green cuprite deposits. No surrounding legend or exergual inscription is present. The flan is irregular in outline and lenticular in section, consistent with the aes grave series of central Etruria. |
