| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field displays the crowned double-headed eagle of Lübeck, rendered in Gothic style within a beaded inner circle. The eagle's two heads face outward with spread wings, the whole device surmounted by a crown visible at the top of the shield. A circular legend in Gothic uncial lettering reads MONETA LVBICENSIS, running between the inner beaded border and the outer irregular rim of this hammered silver coin. The overall die work is characteristic of late 14th-century north German municipal coinage. |
