Reverse description A large foliated cross dominates the central field, with a rose at the center and a decorative leaf motif occupying each of the four angles formed by the arms of the cross, the entire design contained within a plain circle. The peripheral legend, reading SILVESTER VALERIO DVX VENET, identifies the reigning Doge Silvestro Valier, with the mintmaster's initials P·M appearing in the exergue below the horizontal line. The lettering is in capital Roman script, separated by pellets and asterisks.
