| Reverse description | The quartered arms of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta displayed on a baroque cartouche surmounted by a Grand Master's crown, flanked by elaborate acanthus-leaf mantling. The shield features the characteristic white cross of the Order on a plain field quartered with the personal arms of Pinto de Fonseca. The date 17 41 appears divided on either side of the crown at the upper field. The circumferential Latin legend M · M · H · ET · S · SEP · HIER, an abbreviation for Magister Militiae Hospitalis et Sancti Sepulchri Hierusalem, runs along the inner border. |
