| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central quartered oval shield bearing the arms of Milan (the Visconti biscione, a crowned serpent devouring a child) and the Imperial eagle, surmounted by an Imperial crown and flanked by a crossed palm branch and olive branch below. The mint master's initials L·B appear at the base of the design, flanking the branches. The peripheral Latin legend reads MEDIOLANI ET MANT DUX followed by the date, identifying Joseph II as Duke of Milan and Mantua. The overall heraldic composition is characteristic of late-18th-century Milanese coinage. |
