Obverse description Crowned and mantled coat of arms of the Medici family of Musso, featuring a displayed eagle above a rounded base charge, all within a beaded inner circle. The escutcheon is depicted in the Gothic heraldic style typical of early sixteenth-century Italian coinage. The surrounding circular legend, separated from the inner device by a beaded border, reads IO IA DE MEDICIS MAR MVSSI L, identifying Gian Giacomo Medici as Marquis of Musso. The overall composition reflects the feudal authority of this short-lived marquisate.
