Obverse description Papal coat of arms of Pope Paul V (Borghese family), displaying an eagle in the upper half and six bands in the lower half, set within a shield surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys of St. Peter. The arms are flanked by ornate scroll-work and enclosed within a beaded inner border. The circular Latin legend reading PAVLVS V P MAX and the regnal year in Roman numerals runs along the periphery of the field.
