Obverse description Ornately shaped heraldic shield of six quarterings with a central escutcheon, surmounted by a ducal crown, occupying the central field. The composite arms incorporate multiple dynastic devices including fleurs-de-lis, eagles, and castle towers, reflecting the complex territorial claims of the Este dynasty. The shield is flanked by decorative scrollwork typical of Renaissance Italian coinage. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the central device, separated from the beaded border by a narrow inner ring.
