| Obverse description | Centrally displayed papal coat of arms surmounted by the papal tiara (triregnum) and crossed keys, all within an ornate baroque shield. The arms feature a dragon passant, characteristic of the Boncompagni family of Pope Gregory XIII. A Latin legend surrounds the shield in the outer border, reading clockwise from upper left. |
