| Obverse description | Crowned coat of arms displaying a quartered shield set within an ornate baroque cartouche. The shield bears the dynastic arms of Savoy, and the crown surmounting it is rendered in high relief characteristic of mid-16th century hammered coinage. The surrounding legend in Latin reads E PHILIBERT DVX SAB P PED, identifying the issuer as Emmanuel Philibert, Duke of Savoy and Prince of Piedmont. The lettering is distributed around the periphery of the coin in a continuous circular legend. |
