正面描述 Central field occupied by the crowned shield of Savoy, displaying the dynastic cross of the House of Savoy, surmounted by an elaborate Renaissance crown with fleur-de-lis finials. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle, with the circular Latin legend running between the inner circle and the coin's edge, reading EM. PHILIBERTVS. DE. SABAVDIA. The design is executed in the hammered style typical of mid-sixteenth-century Savoyard coinage, with bold relief on the heraldic elements.

背面描述 Central motif consisting of a Greek cross with trilobed (trefoil) terminals, a stylized rose or floral rosette at the center intersection, all contained within a beaded inner circle. Four lobed ornaments fill the angles between the cross arms. The surrounding circular Latin legend, separated by a small star, reads +PRINCEPS. PEDEMONTI. COM. AST., recording Emanuele Filiberto's titles as Prince of Piedmont and Count of Asti. The overall composition is characteristic of the ornamental reverse type employed on Savoyard gold scudi of this period.

附加信息

Emanuele Filiberto reclaimed the Duchy of Savoy from French occupation in 1559 under the Treaty of Cateau-Cambrésis, having spent years as a Habsburg military commander — most notably leading imperial forces at St. Quentin in 1557. This coin series begins in 1553 while he was still Duke in exile, a political statement as much as a monetary instrument. He transferred his capital to Turin in 1563, consolidating Piedmontese power over the traditionally Savoyard heartland.

MIR 469 covers several die variants across this long emission; buyers should verify the specific mint and die pairing against Biaggi, as valuations diverge significantly between them.
