| Obverse description | Central field displays the heraldic shield of the Corsini family — divided per fess, the upper portion bearing diagonal barry stripes — surmounted by the papal tiara with lappets flanked by the crossed keys of Saint Peter, the emblems of papal authority. The shield is framed by elaborate acanthus scroll mantling on either side. The circumferential Latin legend, reading CLEMENS XII. P. M. A. V., runs along the inner border of a milled edge, identifying Pope Clement XII in his fifth year of pontificate. The overall engraving displays the refined Baroque style characteristic of Roman pontifical coinage of the early eighteenth century. |
