On the right, a classical arched doorway is shown open with rays of light emanating from within; to the left, several figures, including one holding a ceremonial hammer aloft, are shown in the act of breaching the walled doorway, with a prostrate figure at the threshold. The circular Latin legend ANNO . IVBIL . MDCCXXV surrounds the composition, referencing the Jubilee year in Roman numerals. The overall style is characteristic of high baroque papal coinage of the early eighteenth century. |
