Obverse description A standing angel, wings displayed, supports the crowned ducal arms of Saxony — barry of ten or and sable with a crancelin — centered in the field. The angel's figure is rendered in a late Gothic style typical of early Saxon coinage. A circular legend in Latin containing the ruler's titles and name surrounds the central device, reading clockwise within a beaded border.
