Obverse description Central shield bearing the arms of the Livonian Order — a cross pattée over a field divided per fess, the lower portion charged with a lozengy pattern — set within a beaded inner circle. The shield is surmounted by a small cross, and the entire device is rendered in the flat, incuse style characteristic of hammered billon coinage of the early sixteenth century. A circular legend in Gothic uncial script surrounds the inner circle, reading the title of the Master of Livonia. The coin exhibits an irregular flan with natural surface undulation typical of hand-struck issues of this period; a piercing hole is visible near the upper rim.
