Reverse description Central shield enclosing a plain cross, dividing the shield into four equal quarters, set within a beaded inner circle. A circular legend in uncial lettering surrounds the central device, reading MOnETA DnORVM PRVC, translating as 'Money of the Lords of Prussia,' identifying the issuing authority and territory. The design is typical of Teutonic Order schillings struck under Grand Master Ulrich von Jungingen in Prussia during the early fifteenth century.

Additional information

Ulrich von Jungingen became Grand Master in 1407 and led the Teutonic Order into its most catastrophic military defeat: the Battle of Grunwald (Tannenberg) in July 1410, where he died on the field along with a significant portion of the Order's senior leadership. Coins struck under his administration thus span a mere three years, making any issue attributable to his mastership inherently short-series.

The Second Peace of Thorn was still a generation away, but Grunwald effectively broke the Order's regional dominance permanently. Ulrich never saw it.
