| Obverse description | Central shield bearing the Grandmaster's arms — a plain cross surmounted by a small crosslet in the chief — displayed within a slightly curved heraldic escutcheon. The shield occupies most of the field, rendered in low relief with bold, confident hammered strokes characteristic of early fifteenth-century Teutonic coinage. A circular legend in uncial Gothic lettering surrounds the shield, separated from the inner device by a plain border, with star-shaped stops punctuating the inscription. |
