| Descrizione del dritto | Central field occupied by the quartered Habsburg arms, featuring a composite escutcheon incorporating the horizontal barry of Hungary, the fess of Austria, and the chequered quarters of Bohemia, with a smaller inescutcheon at the base. The shield is surmounted by an archducal crown with elaborate arched framing and jewelled band, rendered in high relief. No peripheral legend is present, the entire obverse design being devoted to the heraldic device. The coin edge shows a distinctive milled or grained border. The engraving is bold and characteristic of the Theresian copper coinage reform of the 1770s. |

By 1774, Maria Theresia had already centralized Habsburg monetary administration through her sweeping Münzpatent reforms of the 1750s, which standardized coinage across the fragmented hereditary lands. This small copper issue circulated primarily in the Austrian and Bohemian crownlands, where copper fractions handled the lowest-value daily transactions that silver simply couldn't reach. The empress died in 1780, and copper schilling production under her name ceased with her reign.
