Obverse description Royal crowned monogram of Johan III occupying the central field, formed by the conjoined letters I and R surmounted by an open crown rendered in a bold, somewhat crude hammered style characteristic of late 16th-century Baltic coinage. The monogram is set against a plain field without an enclosing circle, consistent with the Type 1 designation. A partially legible Latin legend runs along the coin's periphery, interrupted by the irregular flan edge.
