Obverse description A shield with a rounded top occupies the central field, bearing the arms of Bishop Jodokus von der Recke. The shield is rendered in a late medieval style typical of Baltic episcopal coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the shield, identifying the issuing bishop by name and title. The lettering is Gothic in character and runs continuously around the periphery of the coin.
